Residential Locksmithing in Montreal: Lock Changes, Rekeying and Deadbolts

Residential

From the deadbolt of a Verdun triplex to the mortise lock of a heritage door in Westmount, we install, repair and rekey the hardware of your house, condo or building — while respecting the character of your home.

Please note: we do not offer key duplication at this time.

What we handle

Locks, handles and bolts for the home

Your choice of hardware is essential to protecting your home. We install the best-performing products while respecting the character of your house.

Handles and entrance sets

We install, replace and repair a broad range of lever and knob handles for every function: entrance (keyed), privacy (bathroom, bedroom) and passage (keyless). For front doors we also install premium handlesets.

Lock rekeying

Changing your locks is not always necessary. After lost keys or a change of owner, rekeying alters the internal pins of the cylinder so a new key works and the old ones become useless — while keeping your existing hardware.

Antique mortise locks and restoration

We specialize in servicing antique mortise locks. We work with specialized machinists to source out-of-production parts, such as custom springs, so the original mechanism can be restored rather than replaced.

Deadbolts, jimmyproofs and nightlatches

We install, replace and repair heavy-duty bolts: standard deadbolts, jimmyproof locks (vertical deadbolt) and nightlatches, to reinforce your access points against forced entry.

Electronic and multipoint locks

We install electronic locks with digital keypads, some of which can be managed remotely from your phone, as well as multipoint locking systems for entrance and patio doors.

Mailboxes

We keep an inventory of common mailbox lock models and can replace them at your convenience to secure your letters and parcels.

Door unlocking (lockout): an honest approach

We always attempt picking or bypassing first to keep your costs down; some high-security locks require drilling followed by replacement. Urgent situation? See our 24/7 emergency service.

By home type

Every door type has its weak point

What we see most often across Montreal’s housing stock.

Plexes and outdoor staircases

Exposed to freeze-thaw cycles and road salt, cylinders and strike plates seize and drift out of alignment every winter: we favour weather-resistant deadbolts and a seasonal frame adjustment. That is the reality of the plexes in Verdun.

Condos and European-style doors

Multipoint systems fail in the gearbox, not in the cylinder: swapping the barrel alone fixes nothing. We repair or replace the complete mechanism.

Heritage homes

Solid doors over two inches thick, antique mortise locks and antique bronze, matte black or unlacquered brass finishes: we restore or replace with brands such as Baldwin, Emtek and Colombo, as in Westmount.

Landlords and co-ownerships

Rekeying between tenants, mailbox locks, electric strikes and door closers for multi-unit building entrances, as in Côte-des-Neiges–NDG.
